GENERAL REQUIREMENTS
The works, as described, is situated on farms within the HOLSLOOT river system, Western Cape Province and entails the mechanical clearing of debris which is causing blockages and flooding when there are peak flow events using earth moving equipment.
This project consists of the following elements:
The proposed scope of works entails providing immediate disaster support to affected communities through the mechanical clearing and restoration of river systems. The works will primarily include:
- Removal of debris, vegetation, rock islands, and accumulated sand deposits from river channels and under the bridges;
- Reinstatement of natural flow paths within affected rivers;
- Repair and plugging of breached berm sections;
- Loading and hauling of excess material to approved spoil areas; and
- Associated emergency river rehabilitation measures.
- Trimming and finishing off blocked river channels.
- Removal of organic material and sediment causing obstruction to the watercourse
All prices are to be quoted on a “WET” (Wet Hire) basis. This means that prices should include the following)
- The construction plant equipment
- The operator/driver
- Fuel
- Normal operation costs associated with using the equipment as specified by the contract
The quoted amount will be a lump sum bid and must include labour and machinery. The successful bidder must have the capacity to start the works within 7 (seven) days of appointment.
